Drift Coffee + Kitchen of Wilmington has leased 1,963 square feet at Raleigh Iron Works with plans to open in the Bow Truss Building later this year.
Raleigh Iron Works is Drift’s fifth location in the Triangle.
Drift co-founder Michael Powell was a former professional surfer who spent time in Asia and Australia during competitions, enjoying the coastal coffee culture of those locales. He and his brother opened the first Drift more than 10 years ago in Ocean Isle Beach.
“This is the next progression: to go to a place where people already know what we do and say they enjoy it, and it’s life-giving to them,” Powell previously told the Triangle Business Journal.
“The character and history of the Bow Truss Building, combined with the energy already happening throughout the development, made this an incredibly exciting opportunity for our team,” Powell said in a release.
